The project used a mix of qualitative methods. Data was collected through narrative and semi-structured interviews, group interviews, ethnography, and policy documents.
We carried out over 100 interviews with cyclists and around 40 with stakeholders and practitioners. We carried out ethnographic observation and participation in all four areas and collected large quantities of visual and documentary data.
Interview data is being deposited with the UK data archive.
We have experimented with technologies including
-
Time-lapse photography
- Annotated maps
-
GPS data
Click [here] for several time-lapse movies made in the field. We like how the camera position shows the work being done. We have used time-lapse data collected on two group rides to write about mobile public space - see the 'papers' section for a [link] to a version of that paper.
